Hurricane Electric Announces New Fremont Colocation Facility

Fremont, California - July 17, 2001 - Hurricane Electric, a leading business Technical Service Provider, announces the grand opening of their Fremont Colocation Facility, which is designed from the ground up to serve the growing demand for colocation space, and managed data housing. The new 42,000 square foot colocation facility in Fremont complements the two other colocation facilities that Hurricane Electric operates in San Jose.

"We wanted to give our customers the very best in data housing. We built the new facility with them in mind," said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric.

Building to match Hurricane Electric's colocation standards, the Fremont facility is equipped with every amenity a customer could ask for, including a 24/7 knowledgeable onsite staff, high-tech security, HVAC environmental systems, digital surveillance, and conditioned uninterruptible power.

Following another standard are the 19-inch rack mountable cabinets. Additionally, Hurricane Electric's cabinets also feature fully louvered individually locking doors, a high-powered fan and bottom ventilation duct.

Cooling comes from the use of industry standard 12 inch-raised floors and down flow air conditioning units.

Power Distribution Units that supply the clean power from the UPSs to all the cabinets allow each cabinet to be individually breakered and monitored.

For added security, there is a digital camera system, custom designed to monitor every entrance into and out of the colocation facility, every hallway and individual cabinet. Additionally, there is a high-security card key system, which monitors and limits access to certain areas in the colocation facility.

Customers will also experience the luxury of not worrying about energy surges, rolling blackouts or complete loss of power due to the energy crisis. Hurricane Electric's colocation facilities provide uninterruptible power supplies and back-up generators capable of running indefinitely.

New domestic and international clients now have the choice to colocate their equipment in the original San Jose facility, furnished with individually locked cages, or in the Fremont facility with custom built cabinets.
